The Shinfield 10k attracted hundreds of runners as it returned for another success in its annual event on May bank holiday Monday.
Hosted by Reading Roadrunners, the road race saw competitors tackle a fast and undulating route based from the School Green.
The adult race was won by Reading Athletics Club’s Isaac Farnworth who clocked in with a winning time of 32 minutes, 13 seconds.
Reading AC’s James Lyne finished in second with 32 minutes, 18 seconds and Reading Roadrunners’ Ryan O’Brien was in third with a time of 35 minutes, 10 seconds.
The first female finisher was Ruth Wallace, from Aldershot Farnham & District AC, who finished with a time of 39 minutes, 19 seconds.
As well as the adult race, there were four junior races which took place after the 10k.
The next two female finishers were Carys Westcott from Reading AC with a time of 39 minutes, 57 seconds and Finch Coasters’ Nicki Farrell with 42 minutes, eight seconds.
The junior races saw blue for ages four to six which will be 2.1k, green for ages seven to nine, also 2.1k, red for ages 10-12 across 2.1k and yellow for ages 13-15 across 4.1k at Langley Mead.
Race Director, Colin Cottell, from Reading Roadrunners, said: “We were delighted that despite the weather so many people turned out to run in this year’s event.
“A special thank you to the hundreds of spectators who cheered the runners along the route, the enthusiastic marshals and the hard-working volunteers.
“Thanks also to our main sponsor Honeysuckle Day Nursery, Beard and Bloor Homes, and to Shinfield Parish Council for its support.
“We’re already looking forward to next year’s event, which will be the 40th anniversary of the original Shinfield Fun Run.”
