A BOROUGH fair that brings together ethical organisations in the area, took place at Maiden Erlegh Nature Reserve over the weekend.
Despite rain and storm, organisers of Earley Green Fair were determined to go ahead, and were delighted with the way the event ran.
Earley Town Council town clerk Jo Friend, said: “It was very successful.
“One notable thing was the really positive atmosphere that people remarked on and enjoyed.”
The event offered a range of stalls and activities, including homemade cakes, handmade jewellery, plants and horticulture.
There were also crafts, community groups, birds of prey, and music from Trinity Concert Band.
“There were a few cancellations, but not too many” said Ms Friend.
“It wasn’t surprising, really, as storms had been forecast, and indeed we did have some thunder and lightening during the day, but it went really well nonetheless.
“Last year was our first year back after the pandemic and we were absolutely determined not to cancel.
“The highlight of the day was probably the birds of prey, in particular, the kookaburra.
“He was lovely, and so loud that people heard him from nearby houses and came to see what was going on – so we ended up having even more visitors.”
