FC Bracknell Lions U9 girls team made it a season to remember as they secured a double to cap off a spectacular campaign.
The Lions were awarded the shield for FC Bracknell’s 7v7 team of the season which was presented to them by club chairman Neil Graham with the team being selected due to having the best goal difference.
A day later, the team achieved more success when they were crowned as the Berkshire County League Cup winners.
The Lions completed their superb campaign in the Berkshire County League at U9s as the only team to complete the campaign without losing a single game.
Contesting the cup final against Bracknell Athletic Titans at Ascot United FC, both teams went into the contest in strong form.
The game kicked off with both teams giving it their all to try and score the first goal with opportunities coming at both ends of the pitch.
Half way through the first-half, FC Bracknell were awarded a throw deep into the Bracknell Athletic half. Betsy launched the ball into the area and the ball managed to deflect off a Bracknell Athletic player and into the goal to give FC Bracknell the lead.
Bracknell Athletic came fighting back and came close to levelling when they struck the post.
There were only a few minutes remaining in the first half when Maeya picked up the ball and ran almost the entire length of the pitch to lay the ball off to Mila who calmly slotted the ball away to extend FC Bracknell’s lead right before half-time.
It wasn’t long into the second-half until another goal came from Mila and a couple from Maeya which saw FC Bracknell take a comfortable lead.
FC Bracknell continued to press for more and Maeya again with one of her signature runs casually did a Maradona turn between two players before slotting the ball past the keeper and into the back of the net to secure the win.
Deni Henderson, the FC Bracknell captain, was also awarded player of the match by the match officials.
Team coach Matthew Harrington said: “This has been a tremendous season for everyone at FC Bracknell and we look forward to doing it all again next season.”
