The Wokingham Poppy Appeal is still seeking volunteers for this year’s event, which is set to start on Saturday, October 26.
Anyone with spare time is being urged to contact organiser David Dunham.
Additional collectors are required in Wokingham and Winnersh, as well as for the pop-up shop at 1, Bush Walk, opposite the town hall.
That unit will be open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10am until 4pm.
David told Wokingham Today: “If someone has a spare hour, or more, and would like to help I’d really like them to get in touch.”
The Remembrance parade is set to take place in Wokingham at 2.30pm on Sunday, November 10th.
In response to make the event more visual, wreaths will be carried in the parade from the town hall to All Saints Church, where they will be laid at the altar and remain for one week before being placed at the war memorial inside the town hall.
The national two minutes’ silence will be observed outside the town hall at 11am on Monday, November 11.
A field of remembrance will also be installed outside the town hall, at which people are encouraged to place wooden crosses. These will be available from the pop-up shop for a donation.
Any companies requiring collection tins and poppies can also contact David for more information via email at [email protected].
