WITH less than a week to go until one of the biggest events in Twyford’s calendar, you can still get your hands on tickets for a number of TwyFest events.
Kicking off at The Duke of Wellington pub with a Bavarian Beer Night on Friday, May 26, TwyFest will be back with a bang for 2017, with 10 packed days of fun for all the family to enjoy.
With traditional German food, music and, of course, beer the Bavarian Beer Night promises to bring a taste of southern Germany to the village. Featuring The Oompah Band, one of the finest Bavarian bands in the UK, the event is sure to kick TwyFest off in style.
Saturday, May 27 sees the return of the Village Wildlife Safari, where families can explore the Loddon Nature Reserve, completing fun activities along the way. Fun for children aged five to 11, the trail culminates with a barbecue at The Duke of Wellington. Tickets are £10 per family and the fun starts at 10.30am until 1.30pm.
Later on Saturday, music lovers choose their side as DJs battle it out in the Silent Disco. Thanks to a sponsor stepping forward to cover the cost of the event, tickets are free of charge. The fun kicks off at 7.30pm at The Duke of Wellington.
Twyford’s Got Talent returns to The Duke on Sunday, May 28, with the junior competition kicking off at 4.30pm, and the late show at 8pm. Hidden talents will be revealed with plenty of surprises guaranteed. Tickets are £6 each for both shows.
Bank Holiday Monday will see families taking to the streets of Twyford for the Treasure Hunt, with participants solving clues using local and general knowledge. An easier quiz is available for younger children. Entry is £3 for adults, children are free.
Twyford Cricket Club take on Twyford Village for the hotly anticipated inaugural TwyFest trophy, followed by an evening of classical music, West End numbers and solo performances for Twyford in Concert at St Mary’s Church from 7pm. Tickets cost £12.
Las Vegas comes to Twyford on Tuesday, May 30 for the Poker Night at The Duke. Participants can enter the tournament for £10 which includes a stack of chips.
Things lighten up on Wednesday, May 31 with a night of comedy featuring Paul McCaffrey, Christian Reilly and Jen Brister, compered by the hilarious John Ryan. Doors open at 7.30pm, tickets are £12.50.
Elsie Crumpet’s hugely popular Bingo Bongo returns on Thursday, June 1 (7.30pm, £13.50), and an evening of Mind Bending, Mentalism and Hypnotics with James Brown and Paul Newton will leave you scratching your head on Friday night (8pm, £12.50).
The festival comes to a climax on Saturday, June 3 with Band Day, featuring Brit-Pop legends Republica, as well as The Scoops, Skangsters, Within The Blood and Black Market all rocking the Duke of Wellington’s stage. Doors open at 1pm, tickets are £20 each.
The final of the Darts Tournament will close the proceedings on Sunday, June 4, with the first ever TwyFest champion being crowned with a £30 cash prize. Entry to the preliminary heats closes on May 26.
