A NATIONAL co-operative business is looking for new council members from Wokingham.
Co-op has launched a recruitment drive for representatives to have a say in the running of the group, including Co-op food stores, funeral homes, legal services business and insurance arm.
The group are especially interested in applications from members of under-represented groups, including those from ethnic minorities, candidates with disabilities and those from the LGBTQ+ community.
Louise Walker from the Co-op council diversity working group said that they are working hard to be more inclusive and build a council which will represent all of Co-op’s customers.
“We welcome applications from all eligble members, and last year we elected our first Black female president,” she said.
Across the UK, there are 24 vacancies on the Co-op National Members’ Council.
To qualify to stand for election, members need to have joined before January 2019 and have earned 500 membership points between Sunday, January 3 last year and Saturday, January 1 this year. Applications close at noon on Friday, February 25.
