Reading FC defender Andy Yiadom praised the team’s ‘togetherness’ in their successful fight to stay in the Championship.
Yiadom was presented with the Player of the Season award in what was his fourth season at the club.
“It’s a team game and all the players participate in that, the staff also,” said Yiadom.
“I’m grateful to have received that.
“The first season I came I did well, there were a few dips in the second season, but this season has been amazing.
“I’ve managed to play the majority of the games and feel extremely fit.
“It’s not the season we all wanted but what was amazing is that everybody got together when we needed to keep Reading Football Club in the Championship and that was the main goal
“It’s been a process, everything that has happened this season. The ups, the downs, everything that needed to be tweaked and changed, the uncomfortable situations and the main goal, keeping Reading in the Championship.”
Yiadom, like several other important senior players at the club, is out of contract in the summer and will decide his future in the coming months.
He continued: “I like the club. Especially this end of the season there has been a great family vibe.
“I’m going to speak with my family, see what we come up with and see what the decision is
“I’m looking forward to my dad to come back from Ghana, and my mum and my sister and us having a meal, sit down at the table and discuss my future.
“It has been an enjoyable rollercoaster.
“We’ve got a good bunch of people. Everyone is good here. I enjoy my time here.”
Yiadom reflected on what has been a difficult season for the club but was proud of the achievement to stay in the division.
“Everyone had a part to play, even the previous manager and coaches.
“The fans have been amazing. The last one against Luton on Saturday, they will be there in numbers as they have been all season to support us.
“There has been a real togetherness. Some people have come out of their shells as we’ve come together as a team and everyone knew and was on board with the goal to stay in the Championship.
“We did that as a collective group and we achieved it.”
