A HOUSEBUILDER has announced that more than 70% of its new Shinfield homes for sale have already been reserved.
Vistry Group is overseeing two developments at Shinfield Meadows, delivering 673 homes.
This includes 563 properties for private sale and 110 affordable homes for local people through rent or shared ownership.
To date, 413 private homes have been sold.
Alix Laflin, marketing manager for Vistry Thames Valley, said: “Construction work is progressing well at both of our developments in Shinfield, which are proving to be very popular as the sales figures demonstrate.
Ms Laflin confirmed properties had proved particularly popular with families looking for more space, often bringing friends to the area with them.
She said that the moves added to a growing “community spirit” at Shinfield Meadows.
“The three and four-bedroom homes are very attractive to families wanting to live in a rural location surrounded by open countryside,” Ms Laflin said.
“They like the fact that Shinfield is a lovely village on the outskirts of Reading with a character of its own and features schools for primary age children, a nursery, a post office, a number of pubs and a supermarket.
“There is a selection of other good schools in the area, while Reading town centre, with its wide range of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, is just five miles away.”
Properties at the two sites are being sold under the Bovis Homes and Linden Homes brands.
There is currently a choice of three and four-bedroom homes available at both developments, with prices starting at £462,000.
The Vistry Group’s developments in Shinfield are part of the wider South of M4 SDL, which is set to deliver over 3,000 market and affordable homes.
The project also includes infrastructure, such as new schools, bus services and sports facilities.
