THE LORD Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire, Mr James Puxley, has announced the appointment of seven new Deputy Lieutenants.

Mr Julian Walker TD, of A B Walker and Sons, is among the appointments.

Dr Stefan Fafinski JP, Mr Tanweer Ikram CBE, Mr Chris Juden JP, Miss Susan Roberts, Mr Mark Sanderson, and Mr Rohit Tanna have also been appointed.

Deputy Lieutenants support the Lord Lieutenant in his wide-ranging duties as a personal representative of His Majesty, The King.

They are encouraged to support public and emergency services, as well as the armed forces, which serve the county.

They also seek to promote a spirit of co-operation through support of charitable and community organisations and take an active interest in local, commercial, social, civic, and spiritual aspects of the county.

The Lord Lieutenant is now supported in his work by the Vice Lord Lieutenant and 36 Deputy Lieutenants.

Mr Puxley said: “I am delighted to welcome these seven new Deputy Lieutenants.

“I send congratulations to them all on being awarded this honour and I look forward to working with them in the coming months.”

Julian A.B. Walker served in the Army Reserve for over 15 years and remains extensively involved with The Rifles Regiment, and currently as Honorary County Colonel for Royal Berkshire.

He also owns and manages A.B. Walker and Son funeral directors, a multi-branch, fifth-generation family business that has served central Berkshire since 1826.

Dr Stefan Fafinski JP has over 25 years of unbroken service as a charity trustee and school governor, and is now an experienced and accomplished public lawyer who also sits as a Berkshire Family Magistrate.

Mr Tanweer Ikram CBE is a deputy senior district judge of England and Wales, and received a CBE in 2022 for services to judicial diversity.

Mr Chris Juden JP has been both an adult and youth magistrate for 17 years, and is currently the Chair of Berkshire Magistrates.

Miss Susan Roberts started her career in a local brewery before becoming sponsorship and special events management for Courage, Barclay, & Simonds brewery, which later became Heineken.

Mark Sanderson works with Guide Dogs for the Blind and leads the charity UK-wide on their wide-ranging services for children, young people and families affected by vision impairment as Assistant Director CYPF.

Rohit Tanna DL was involved with other aspects of dentistry serving as Chairman of the Local Berkshire Dental Committee for 8 years and was President of the South Mercia Branch of the British Dental Association.

He is currently a trustee of Sandhurst Trust and director of Sandhurst Enterprises Limited, trustee and treasurer of Dr Ellerton’s Charity, and a trustee of the Rotary Club of Pangbourne Charitable Trust.
