One of Wokingham’s most popular restaurants is set to reopen its doors this month.
Zizzi Wokingham will unveil a new look and feel following a transformation.
Mural artist Jeru Nomi was selected to design the unique mural that adorns the new look restaurant.
Growing up, Jeru didn’t like art as it stopped her pursuing her real passion, which was to run everywhere. However, things changed and now she spends almost all her time making, whilst the idea of running is a nightmare.
“In 2007, Jeru found a piece of art that would change her way of image making forever. The engraving was made entirely out of one line and was called “Face of Christ”.
“This inspired Jeru to start using the technique in her own work, and 15 years on Jeru is still creating work with lines, spirals and concentric circles, only now she has the confidence to share it with the world.
Jeru’s inspiration for the mural in the new look restaurant comes from an old bell foundry in Wokingham which operated for around 300 years from the early 1300s. Around 50 Wokingham bells are still in use in Berkshire and surrounding counties.
Inside the transformed restaurant, guests will experience Zizzi touch points including the iconic yellow foliage, warm and bright festoon lights as well as Jeru’s brilliant artwork.
Neon signage welcomes customers with the apt phrase, ‘All the bells and whistles’ as Jeru was inspired by the old bell foundry.
Diners at the Wokingham restaurant can enjoy a delicious range of newdishes, including ‘Cromer Crab & Zesty Lemon Arancini’ and ‘Pork & Garlic Meatballs’ to start.
For mains, there’s ‘Beef Brisket & Venison Stufato’, the ‘Venison Pepperoni & Hot Honey Rustica’, the ‘Aubergine Meatball’ Rustica.
The new menu also includes gluten free options.
Samantha Ashton and Deep Kunwar, general managers of Zizzi Wokingham, said:
“We’re thrilled to reopen our doors and welcome customers, old and new.
“We can’t wait to share our unique twist on Italian dishes, all served in our beautiful new restaurant.”
Zizzi Wokingham in Broad Street is open from 11:30am until 10:00pm, Monday to Sunday.
