The New Year provides a chance for looking ahead as well as looking back. As we go into 2024, we are facing challenges and opportunities. Sadly, war continues to rage in Ukraine and Gaza, with tragic consequences.
War has impacted on the global economy but inflation both globally and in the UK continues to fall which will be a relief to many who have struggled in the last year.
In Wokingham Borough, the early months of next year will see the Council’s Conservative Group making our case to local residents for electing us to take charge of the local authority. In February, the current administration will present their budget, and the Conservatives will set out what we would be doing differently if we were running the Council.
Then in May, for the first time in over a decade, the whole Council will be up for election in one go on new ward boundaries. Usually in the Borough only a third of councillors are chosen at each election, however, 2024’s elections will give you the chance to completely change who is in charge. Conservative councillors are working hard to show that we are ready to form the next administration, a Council that listens to you, manages the council responsibly and delivers your priorities.
Every new year is an unknown, but I hope that 2024 brings joy, health and prosperity to you, your family and friends. Happy New Year.
