THE ALZHEIMER’S Society’s Hero Awards is set to recognise individuals and organisations who have supported people affected by dementia, and is seeking nominations.

The awards celebrate the achievements of those who meaningfully involve people affected by dementia in activities and projects.

There are nine awards categories, with awards for outstanding achievement, campaigns and influencing, research and innovation, dementia-friendly businesses, community, care and compassion, professional excellence, and media impact.

The awards are seeking nominations for businesses, groups, and organisations which make a difference in the lives of those with dementia.

Around 6,790 people in Berkshire are estimated to be living with dementia according to the Alzheimer’s Society figures, with 1550 of them living in Reading alone.

Nominations for the awards close on Friday, November 18, and nominees will be judged by a panel of research and innovation leaders and members of local government.
