WOKINGHAM town could get a new family-friendly restaurant that serves loaded chip pizza fries.

Lucky’s Diner has applied for permission to open a branch in the borough, thought to be in Elms Field, although there are other vacant properties in the town such as the former Anytime Fitness store in Peach Street.

It describes itself as a “quick service restaurant” that has a varied continental-style menu.

As well as burgers, wraps and platters, its menu includes desserts, milkshakes and mocktails.

One of the dishes on the current menu is The Chef’s Challenge.

Described as ‘Not for the faint hearted’ it is a stack burger comprising an Angus beef burger, a grilled peri chicken fillet, a spicy Southern-fried fille, pulled BBQ chicken, melted cheese. Accompaniments include lettuce, mayonnaise as standard, and it is served in a brioche bun with fries and a drink.

Milkshakes include a bubblegum flavour, and a Rainbow Shake made with Skittles and Blue Millions, with ice cream, whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles and a bubblegum sauce.

Mocktails include a Mango Mojito, and an alcohol-free Pina Colada.

Children’s meals and sharing options are also on offer.

The firm’s website says of its menu: “Our commitment to excellence starts with our ingredients.

“We carefully select the finest quality, locally sourced ingredients.

“Our chefs are passionate about their craft and skilled in the art of food creation, ensuring that each bite is an explosion of flavour and satisfaction.”

If it is in Elms Field, it will complement the play area, the cinema and the soft play centre.

It would join businesses including Starbucks, Salty Olive (Tapas), Kutchenhaus, Peacock House Interiors, This Little Piggy and The Wellbeing Clinic.

The company launched a store in Oldham in 2018, followed by Stockport in 2021, and Openshaw last year.

It is now seeking to expand its portfolio and is listing Wokingham alongside Derby and Holloway Road in London as future destinations.

The company operates a franchise model.

Lucky’s Diner has been contacted for a comment.
