An absolutely fabulous night of Jazz was had by all at The Whitty Theatre on Saturday.
World-renowned saxophonist Art Themen appeared with some of his musician friends to provide a great evening of entertainment – it was a busy weekend for the musician, he was in Wokingham following an appearance at Ronnie Scotts the night before.
The event was to raise funds for Wokingham In Need, founded by Sue Jackson.
A delighted Art said: “Once more I must thank you Sue Jackson for your endeavours on behalf of Wokingham In Need, and I’m glad you managed to raise a reasonable amount for a very worthwhile cause.
“The band had much fun playing to such a receptive audience.”
And Sue was equally pleased. She said that she wanted to thank all those who attended the event and gave their support plus the great support also supplied on the night by Wokingham Rotary Satellite Club, Wokingham Lions and Prospect Estate Agents.
Funds raised were around £2,000 and will be used for ongoing help with a podiatrist at the Wokingham In Need drop-in centre and a forthcoming project which will be announced in the next few weeks by Wokingham In Need.
