A WOKINGHAM group dedicated to appreciation of the arts, is holding a free event next week.
The Arts Society Wokingham will hear from guest speaker, Ian Swankie.
Ian’s talk will take members and visitors on a virtual tour of the famous Tate Modern building, which set the new gold standard for museum design when it opened in 2016.
The illustrated lecture looks at the building’s architecture and then follows highlights of the collection, from Monet, to Bacon, and international works.
Ian, one the society’s most popular lecturers, is a Londoner with a passion for art and architecture.
He is also an official guide at Tate Modern, Tate Britain, Guildhall Art Gallery and St Paul’s Cathedral.
His talk rounds off the group’s current season of monthly lectures.
The next session of arts-related talks is planned for September, and will include: The Life And Work Of American artist, Georgia O’Keefe; Post-war Politics Of Ealing Studios; and An Armchair Tour Of Wren’s City Churches.
All are welcome to attend the lecture, which takes place at King’s Academy, Binfield, on Monday, July 24.
Doors open at 7.30pm.
