ASCOT UNITED are the new leaders in the Combined Counties Premier North after they smacked seven past Hilltop on Tuesday night.

The Yellas have now claimed 10 consecutive victories to set a new club record to move to the summit.

It took Ascot just 13 minutes to open the scoring for the night when Rob Gerrard forced the ball forward to find Brendan Matthew who swung a cross in to find Sean McCormack who was on hand to apply the finish.

It wasn’t all plain sailing for Ascot who saw their lead wiped out when Hilltop were awarded a penalty kick in the 23rd minute and converted to level the game.

But Ascot responded quickly just three minutes after conceding when McCormack’s corner found Matthew who headed in for his first goal of the game.

Ascot added two more before the break when Josh Harris latched onto goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown’s long kick and fired home.

The hosts found their fourth of the game in first-half stoppage time when Matthew was perfectly placed to tap in from Kai Walters’ initially saved header to make it 4-1.

Just six minutes after the restart Matthew had his hat-trick when he was found by George Lock and converted to put his team 5-1 ahead.

On the hour mark, Ascot had their sixth of the night when Harris found the net from an acute angle.

The final goal of the night was scored 10 minutes from time when Matthew was set up by Marcus Mealing to seal an incredible evening in front of goal.

Ascot are now top of the table after winning 12 of their 13 matches which sees them on 36 points to put them one ahead of Reading City.

Ascot United manager, Jamie Tompkins and his assistance Dan Masters have successfully guided the Yellamen to a club record securing ten successive wins in a row in all competitions for the first time in the club’s history.

Aided by their backroom staff, Steve Quelch, Stuart Britton, Chad Smith and newly appointed Dean Greenwood, the team have been on an unbeaten run since the 8th of October when they visited Wokingham and Emmbrook at Lowther Road.

The streak includes two Isuzu FA Vase victories, a trip to Newport Isle of Wight in October and another away tie with Broadbridge Heath, sending them through to the Third Round Proper, as well as a Cherry Red Records Premier Challenge Cup win over FC Deportivo Galicia.

Crucially, Ascot United took all three points at home against fellow title race contenders Burnham at the beginning of November. The side are yet to face other title race hopefuls Reading City (6th December)

Up next for the Yellamen is a home league tie with London Lions on Saturday, November 26 before they host Little Common at home on the again on Saturday, December 3 in the Third Round Proper of the FA Vase.

Ascot United: Ashdown, Gallimore, Gerrard, A Grant, H Grant (c), Harris, Lock, Matthew, McCormack, Tucker, Walters

Goals: Matthew x4, Harris x2, McCormack
