TWENTY four teams battled it out at Woodford Park Cricket grounds to be crowned Rangers Sports six-a-side cricket 2019 champions.
The soft ball amateur cricket tournament, which was hosted on Sunday 12th May, saw its highest number of competing teams since its inception, with two cups up for grabs- the Champions Cup and Rangers Cup.
The tournament attracted local communities’ attention and about 150 people turned up and enjoyed a beautiful sunny day of Cricket and were catered for with a food stall run by the Rangers Ladies group.
Teams were divided into six groups of four teams each and played three group games, with the top teams progressing to the quarter-finals and semi-finals.

The Champions Cup final was contested by Haryana Lions and Reading Lions. Reading Lions batted first and were unable to recover from a poor start which saw them post a modest total of 56 runs for Haryana Lions to catch. Haryana batted well and comfortably surpassed the total with more than 10 balls to spare as Parvesh Dabra batted superbly.

Bakers and Millers battled it out to be crowned Rangers Cup champions against Parkland Crew. Bakers and Millers batted first and posted a strong total of 106 runs against a strong bowling attack. But Parkland Crew set about their target quickly and efficiently with their top three batsman scoring good totals as they eventually won the final by four wickets with seven balls to spare.
