A WOKINGHAM man has been banned from every Co-op store in Berkshire.
Michael Campion pleaded guilty to 13 counts of theft and one count of assault following a crime spree in Wokingham’s Co-op stores. He undertook the raids between July and November last year.
During one of the heists, the 37-year-old from Budges Road assaults a member of the public.
At a hearing at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, March 19.
he was given a Criminal Behaviour Order, which prevents him from going into a Co-op. He is also banned from entering the Sainsbury’s Local store in Ashridge Road, Wokingham, or remaining in any shop when asked to leave by staff.
He must carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months and complete a drug rehabilitation order.
Investigating officer, Sergeant Paul Bentley said: “Thames Valley Police does not tolerate retail crime.
“We are working with partners to tackle retail crime and identify offenders, who impact on businesses as well as cause fear to staff and members of the public.
“Criminal Behaviour Orders act as a deterrent to offenders, as it places restrictions upon them, and can help address the underlying issue which causes the offending in the first place.
“Wokingham Neighbourhood team continue to work with businesses and partners to keep Wokingham a safe place to live and shop.”
