People who went to a village sports club’s open afternoon were bowled over by the experience.
In fact, they enjoyed Hurst Bowling Club’s event last Saturday so much that 15 of them signed up straightaway to become members.
The club’s fundraiser Ronnie Ashley said: “It went very well and we were really pleased to welcome so many new members.
“Some of the others who came are working out how to adjust their lives to fit in bowling, so we may have even more new members.”
The club, said to be the UK’s second oldest, is working to raise £200,000 to replace their aged wooden clubhouse. Recently they raised £1,800 at an auction. More events are planned.
