A BARKHAM pub reopened on Wednesday, March 13, following a theft that saw the bar stripped bare.
On Friday, March 8, police were called to The Bull after owners came back to discover that the pub was empty.
It is thought that a former manager cleared the contents of the popular pub, taking not just bottles of wine, but washing machines, glasses and televisions.
The bar area was stripped of spirits and the measuring optics, soft drinks were removed from the fridge and the cellar was emptied as well.
And they also disconnected the water mains, took hoovers and the saucepans.
The pub has been shut since then, losing out of vital weekend trade.
A note had been posted on the pub’s Facebook page from the ‘Bull Barkham team’ stating: “We are extremely sorry to announce that we are closed untill further notice.
“We appreciate your help and support throughout the years of the Bull. And it’s a great shame what has happened to us on Friday.”
A spokesperson for the pub said on Tuesday last week: “We’re determined to get back on our feet as quickly as possible.
“The bar will reopen and as soon as we can we’ll get the kitchen up and running.”
Unfortunately, some of the events planned including a classic car day on Saturday, March 23, will be cancelled until normal service is resumed.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said that they will not be investigating the incident.
They said: “A theft was reported at that location however it is a civil matter so no police involvement.”
