Two Berkshire-based charities have received a major boost from local businesses in the area.
Kaleidoscopic UK, an organisation of survivors for survivors, that supports women and families of domestic abuse by providing local support groups and prevention programmes, and the Reading Bladder Cancer Support Group Trust both received cheques for £1,000 from Dr Phillip Lee on behalf of the Berkshire Business Network.
Dr Lee, who founded the Business Network three years ago said:
“I am delighted, on behalf of the BBN, to be able to offer our support to these charities and the wonderful work that they do. Through the generosity of the companies concerned, we have been able to make many such donations over the years, and I hope this will continue into the future.”
Rob Stanton, who founded the Bladder Cancer Support Trust, after receiving treatment at the Royal Berkshire Hospital commented:
“I have known Phillip for over 10 years, firstly as my local GP and then as my local MP. He has always been so supportive of the work undertaken by the Trust, including speaking at its events, and this donation will make a real difference.”
Receiving the cheque on behalf of Kaleidoscopic UK, its founder Vickie Robertson remarked:
“I cannot overstate just how much this donation will mean to us. Throughout his time at the Ministry of Justice, and since, Dr Lee always sought to protect women who find themselves in a vulnerable situation.”
The presentations were made before Parliament dissolved.
