ELECTRICAL items with hidden non-removable batteries may have residents wondering whether these should be put in the bin or go to a recycling centre.
Wokingham Borough Council advises that such items are recyclable.
Small items with inbuilt batteries, such as electric toothbrushes and smart watches that no longer work can be taken to borough re3 recycling centres, along with other electrical items.
Batteries, too, can be taken for processing, and should not be binned.
Loose lithium-ion, or button batteries, and standard barrel-type batteries such as AAs or AAAs can cause fires when placed in the bin.
Instead, residents are advised to take these to collection points in major supermarkets, electrical stores, or recycling centres.
