FOUR THIEVES raided the Carphone Warehouse store in Wokingham’s town centre hours before Broad Street was closed to traffic for the weekend.
Police are appealing for witnesses following the raid which took place in the early hours of Friday, June 1.
The gang got into the store by smashing glass in a door and stole a speaker amplifier.
They were on site for just five minutes and police said that they left approximately five minutes later in the same direction from which they arrived, where Market Place joins Broad Street.
Police said that all four offenders were wearing dark long sleeved tops, trousers, hoods and face coverings. They were carrying crowbars, a sledge hammer and a large plastic bag.
It is the second time this year that the store has been raided. Back in January, a police helicopter was used to chase thieves in another overnight theft.
Investigating officer PC Jake Knight, based at Loddon Valley police station, said: “I would like to appeal to anyone who saw any suspicious activity or vehicles in the area around the time of the burglary to speak to police.
“If you have any information which could assist the investigation, please come forward.”
