Fake News
My nephew has taken great delight in playing with AI, creating mock reviews for his business (he doesn’t actually use them) and funny videos of politicians (frightening).
The introduction of social media was bad enough, never being sure that what you read is actually true, but with AI?
We hunger for truth.
On one hand we say that actual truth doesn’t matter, it’s finding my truth.
On the other hand, we are absorbed by scientific discoveries in deep space pointing to the truth of our existence; how we came to being, why we’re here.
There must be a ‘truth’, a definitive answer, not just what is true to me.
Surely there is more than being here by accident?
Surely life’s meaning is found in more than being good citizens and neighbours, or accumulating wealth and health so that we can enjoy life, or by being at one with nature?
In John 14, Jesus says: “I am the way, the truth and the life.
“No-one comes to the Father except by me.”
Jesus claimed to be the truth, and he taught that there is purpose to our existence.
We’re not here by accident, he said.
We’ve been created by God to be in relationship with Him, and it’s through Jesus that we find that relationship.
