MEMBERS of a self advocacy group for people with learning disabilities have been litter picking to support their community and help make a local beauty spot even lovelier.
CLASP members wearing high-vis jackets and armed with litter-grabbers took to the paths of Wokingham’s Cantley Park.
They were taking part in a sponsored walk and litter pick to raise funds for and awareness of CLASP.
Deb’s Morrison CEO of CLASP says: “We all enjoyed the morning and an opportunity to do something useful and make a difference.
“Thank you to everyone who sponsored us and to the Cantley Team for making us so welcome, we will be back in the summer.”
CLASP member Dean Corcoran says: “The sponsored walk and litter pick was great.
“It was really nice to be able to help the local community and to spend time with my friends.”
Inspired by the 1970s children’s television show about a family of furry creatures who love to recycle litter, the event was called Wokingham Wombles.
The group has already raised over £400.
