EARLIER THIS month, a new partnership launched to protect businesses in the South East from cyber crime.
On Thursday, September 3, the South East Cyber Resilience Centre (SECRC) was formed, consisting of police, the private sector and local universities.
It offers a range of memberships to businesses in Berkshire, giving them access to resources to identify cyber crime vulnerabilities.
And organisations with 50 or fewer employees can apply for a free membership package.
Justin Torgout, director of the SECRC, said: “Having worked closely with the force Cyber Crime Unit in Hampshire, I have seen first-hand the significant threat that businesses across our region face from cyber criminals.
“The SECRC team are committed to helping local businesses understand more about the threats they face and help them get better protected.”
The centre is funded by the National Police Chiefs’ Council Cyber Crime Programme.
The South East is now the fifth region to have a resilience centre in the UK.
