Reading FC are set to be handed a fine having yet to publish their financial figures to Companies House.
The Royals are the only club in the entire Football League that has yet to post their accounts.
Football finance expert Kieran Maguire informed fans that Dai Yongge had used a loophole to delay the publication of the 2022/23 account.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Maguire said: “As well as ceasing to support Reading Women, Dai Yongge & cronies used a loophole to delay publication of Reading’s 22/23 accounts for 3 months so they are the only club in 92 not to publish. Loophole has expired but still no accounts. Shows the contempt owner has for fans Royals.”
This news comes just days after the club confirmed that the Women’s first-team will drop out of the Women’s Championship due to a lack of funding from the owner and will instead play in Tier 5 of the football pyramid in the Southern Region Women’s Premier League.
The football expert also commented that the club will only be fined around £150 for the breach, however other clubs in the past have been punished with transfer embargoes from the EFL.
However, the Royals are already still under a transfer embargo as they have been for more than 18 months.
