DATCHET Village were awarded with the Reading Referees Assocation’s Fair Play Award for the 2018/19 season in their first season competing in the Thames Valley League.
This rounds off a fine season for Datchet Village who were crowned league champions of Division 4 and also won the Junior Berkshire trophy.
The decision is made by monitoring the disciplinary conduct including the number of red and yellow cards received by clubs’ players and was first awarded in 1966 to recognise fair play and sporting behaviour.
Meanwhile, Mark Forbes of Loxwood Park Rangers who plays in the Reading Sunday League at Laurel Park, Lower Earley was awarded with the Club Assistant Award for the 2018/19 season.
Referees in local football find it of great assistance to have a volunteer club assistant referees, who are reliable, fair and professional. To acknowledge this, the Reading Referees Association make an award annually to the club assistant who has received the best marks from its referees.
