READING might have its three Bs, but Wokingham has them too – and two of them will be the focus for a new talk taking place next month.
The Wokingham Society is organising the event at Wokingham Town Hall on Wednesday, March 15.
John Harrison, from All Saints Church, will look at the history of both the bell making and the brick making industries in the town.
The bells were cast in foundaries established in the 1300s, while brick making thrived in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
In his talk, Mr Harrison will describe these traditional local industries and how they changed over time, together with an overview of how their products were used.
The event starts at 7.45pm and entry is free. Light refreshments will be served afterwards.
