At The Berkshire Care Home, we don’t think that anyone should be alone at Christmas time.
Our ‘Don’t Dine Alone’ campaign aims to bring people together over this festive season to enjoy a lovely Christmas lunch and the company of others.
Being lonely is one of the largest issues affecting our society. This is an issue at any time of year, but people who live alone and don’t have friends and family near may feel even more isolated around the Christmas period, when it may appear that everyone else is visiting family for the big day.
To help tackle this, The Berkshire Care Home, along with many other brighterkind homes, will be opening their doors to lonely older people this festive period so they can enjoy a lovely, home-cooked festive meal with their residents.
Their chefs will be cooking up a delicious three-course meal on Christmas Day, and will offer traditional turkey and all the trimmings, and vegetarian options.
As well as the lunch, the home will be decorated in the festive theme. The festivities will begin at 1pm and will begin with inviting our residents and guests to join in a joyful sing-song of Christmas Carol’s, where both modern and traditional songs will be sung.
Small gifts will then be handed out to everyone to unwrap and enjoy.
