A consultation has opened that could see the development of a fast food drive-thru in Winnersh.
Plans have been submitted to Wokingham Borough Council by American fast food chain Five Guys to add a two-lane drive-thru to its existing approved permission to build a restaurant in what is currently part of the car park at the Showcase cinema on Reading Road.
The chain, which has more than 150 outlets in the United Kingdom, was granted permission in March 2023 for a new restaurant building with external seating, associated landscaping and car parking.
Its plans for the drive-thru said it will : “.. encompasses an area of parking bays and some amenity shrub planting on the periphery of the car park.
“The proposed drive-thru access lanes would be located within the area of future landscape planting associated with the consented restaurant building,” it said.
Five Guys currently has restaurants in Berkshire in Reading, Bracknell and Windsor.
