MYSTERY continues to surround the death of a man in Earley after a post-mortem proved inconclusive.
The man, in his forties, is due to be formally identified this afternoon, but officers from Thames Valley Police still do not know how he died.
Officers were called to the Elmhurst Hotel in Church Road at 9.57am on Wednesday following reports that a man had been assaulted.
Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service attended but the man died at the scene.
A post-mortem was held yesterday (31) but proved inconclusive. Toxicology reports have been requested meaning it could be a number of months before a formal cause of death is established.
Two men from Reading, aged 28 and 38, were arrested in the centre of Reading shortly before 11am on Wednesday and remain in police custody.
Anyone with any information relating to the incident should call the Thames Valley Police enquiry centre via 101.
