The family of the co-owner and founder of Wokingham’s Tamarind Tree have paid tribute following his death last week.
In a statement they said: “We are sad to announce the untimely demise of our dear friend and brother, Koush Miah, who died peacefully in the Royal Berkshire Hospital on the evening of Thursday, January 8, after a short illness.
“He was surrounded at the end by his family and closest friends.
“Koush was 52 years of age, and had been co-owner and founder of The Tamarind Tree Indian Restaurant in Peach Street, Wokingham for the last 18 years.
“Koush was an endearing man, with an infectious smile, and his caring nature for fellow humankind was evidenced by the many occasions when he would turn The Tamarind Tree over to a given charity for an entire evening, so that the charity could could profit from an entire restaurant service, run raffles or auctions, and raise much needed funds.
“Over the years, countless local charities raised many thousands of pounds in this way, thanks to Koush’s selfless generosity.
“Koush always gave generously of his own time too. He served for four years as town councillor for Little Sandhurst ward of Sandhurst town council, during which time he was presented to the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, when the prince paid an official visit to Sandhurst.
“Koush will forever be remembered by all who had the pleasure and privilege of knowing him, and especially by his entire family and his many friends.
“He will be succeeded by his son, Sadiq and daughter, Amanna.”
