FARLEY Hill condemned Crowthorne & Crown Wood to another defeat in BCL Division 1 as they cruised to a 107-run victory to climb to second in the table.

Crowthorne won the toss and elected to field. Farley Hill opened their innings strongly as their opening pair of Ross Ditchburn and Michael Sheridan proved to be stubborn opposition for Crowthorne.

They surpassed a century of runs as a partnership before Crowthorne eventually made a crucial breakthrough with the wicket of Farley captain Sheridan on 36 runs.

William Nah-Wortham batted admirably to score 44 runs to help boost the total before Crowthorne bowler Peter Clarke gained two wickets to take his tally to three near the end of the innings.

Farley finished their innings with a score of 216 for Crowthorne to catch from 45 overs.

Farley were superb in the field as they were determined to defend their total as Craig Jorey started his bowling in fine form, picking up three early wickets to help dismiss the Crowthorne top order.

Lawrence Heaton-Wright bowled brilliantly as Farley put Crowthorne into further danger as he picked up three more wickets, including the crucial dismissal of captain Dan Finucane who contributed 18 runs.

The hosts wasted no time in finishing the job to secure the win as the tail end was dismissed quickly. Despite a valiant effort from number eleven batsmen Nirav Upadhyay, who top scored for Crowthorne with 24 runs not out, they were all out for 109 after 31.4 overs as Farley picked up their fourth victory of their league campaign.

The win means that Farley Hill have moved up to second position in the table while Crowthorne & Crown Wood sit just above the relegation places in eight position having lost four of their six matches this season.
