YOUNGSTERS are being invited to apply for a summer internship scheme with Royal Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS).
It says it is seeking motivated people from currently under-represented backgrounds within the workforce to sign up.
This is the third year of the scheme, and is aimed at people who may have yet to consider a career in the Fire and Rescue Sector to explore some of the roles available to them.
Each intern will be able to gain real-world work experience and transferable skills, learning and development workshops and visits to fire stations across the county.
Applicant will be paid an hourly wage of £9.99.
They will also receive access to tailored support and flexible working arrangements to help them make the most of their time with the Service.
Nikki Richards, deputy chief executive and director of corporate services at RBFRS, said: “This scheme is an exciting opportunity. It offers a paid internship and will give these young people a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, develop new skills and enhance their future education and career prospects in a supportive work environment. It also offers the service the chance to gain valuable insight and feedback from those participating.
“As a service, we are committed to engaging with young people in our communities and expanding career pathways into the fire and rescue service.
“Beyond the Internship Scheme, we also offer other opportunities in the Service for young people, including our Fire Cadets programme and our partnership with the Leonard Cheshire’s Change 100 Programme.”
Placements run from Thursday, July 4, through to Friday, August 9, for five weeks. They are for people aged 18 or over and are for an ethnic group that is under-represented in Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
