Today’s wet and windy weather means that for the second year in a row, Wokingham’s big firework procession has been postponed.
It will now take place on Sunday, November 3.
There will be some changes to the timings – the procession will now leave Market Place from 5.15pm instead of 6pm, and the display will start at 6.30pm.
Last year, an accident with a gas main outside Cantley Park meant that the display had to be postponed by 24 hours.
This year it is Mother Nature.
It is not unusual for the display to be delayed due to the weather – it also happened in 2016. This was due to heavy rain.
In a statement posted on its Facebook page, Wokingham Fireworks said: “Unfortunately we have been advised by our fireworks safety team that with the wind strength and direction forecast for this evening we are going to have to postpone our display until tomorrow (Sunday 3rd) evening.
“Apologies – all purchased tickets and programs will be good for tomorrow evening. Note that we will bring forward the start time – the torchlit parade will start at 5.15pm with the fireworks at 6.30 pm.
“We hope you will still support this important fundraising event for local charities – it’s still going to be a great evening!”
