Wokingham Foodbank has received a £500 donation from a housebuilder.
The donation from Barratt David Wilson Southern Counties, which is building homes at the Finchwood Park development, will go towards essential food and toiletries.
The Foodbank provides a minimum of three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food parcels for those in need in Berkshire, assisting more than 6,000 people per year.
The foodbank is part of the Trussell Trust network which reported a 37% increase in demand for its emergency food parcels in 2023.
Annette Medhurst, Wokingham Foodbank Manager, said: “We are so thankful for the support from Barratt David Wilson Southern Counties as the donation has enabled us to help those in need.
“It will make a significant difference to those in Wokingham and the surrounding areas as we support to people living with food insecurity and campaign for change to end the need for food banks in the UK.”
Alex Dowling, head of sales and marketing at Barratt David Wilson Southern Counties, commented: “We are pleased to support the local foodbank in providing essential services for families and individuals across Berkshire and we hope the donation provides immediate assistance for those in need.”
