More than £1,200 was raised from a football match that will help to provide defibrillator units for local football pitches.
The match, held at Finchampstead Football Club on December 23, involved past and present players from the village club’s various teams.
The money raised will go towards a crowdfunding campaign that was launched last month.
Doug King, aged 56, was playing for Bracknell Sunday League team SF7 in a Premier Division match against AFC Dukes on December 3.
He collapsed during the match, and was saved by the quick-thinking actions of both teams, who knew a lifesaving defibrillator unit was less and 300 metres away at a café in Braybrooke Park.
He was later flown to Royal Berkshire hospital by the Thames Valley air ambulance.
His SF7 team mates immediately launched an appeal to raise £4,250 to provide two defibrillator units for park pitches in Bracknell.
That campaign has more than doubled its initial £2,500 target, with additional money being donated to the Thames Valley Air Ambulance.
As a result of this incident, the Bracknell Sunday League has now instructed its teams and officials to discuss the location of the closest unit prior to the start of every match.
Bracknell Town Council has also revealed it will be installing new units close to the football pitches at Wildridings and Ringmead in Bracknell.
