Reading Today understands that former Birmingham City centre-back Harlee Dean is on trial at Reading FC.
The 31-year-old has been training with the Royals over the past few days and manager Ruben Selles is reportedly keen to add him to his squad.
Born in Basingstoke, Dean has accrued 313 Championship appearances throughout his career and was a mainstay at the heart of Brentford’s and most recently Blues’ defences for a decade.
The defender was voted Birmingham’s Supporters’ Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year for the 2020–21 season.
Dean appeared 16 times in City’s most recent campaign, scoring one goal.
Reading have made three signings this summer with Harvey Knibbs and Sam Smith joining over the past few days and Amadou Mbengue re-signing yesterday.
Selles revealed on Monday he wants to bring in ten new players before the summer transfer window closes.
Meanwhile, any possibility of former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Dennis Adeniran joining the Royals looks to be over.
Adeniran was reported to be on trial with the Royals earlier this summer, but the move has since broken down.
