A FORMER Henley MP is to resign from his job today.
Boris Johnson, who served the neighbouring Oxfordfordshire constituency between 1999 and 2008, is expected to step down as prime minister after 57 government ministers resigned, saying they had no confidence in him.
He was elected to the safe seat which had previously been held by Sir Michael Heseltine.
He left the seat to become the mayor of London, and then returned to parliament as MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip in 2015.
He then endorsed the Vote Leave campaign in the Brexit referendum, afterwards serving in Theresa May’s government as foreign secretary.
He quit, which led to end of the Maidenhead MP’s own premiership.
He subsequently won a leadership election against Jeremy Hunt, and became prime minister.
However, his time in office has been frequently punctuated by a number of scandals, including partygate.
This week, MPs decided they no longer had confidence in him, and resigned.
Despite intending to continue, Mr Johnson is now preparing his resignation statement, which will be delivered today.
