Former Reading FC star Nelson Abbey has made a new loan move having had his time at Championship side Swansea city cut short.
Abbey was loaned out by parent club Olympicaos in the summer as he made the move back to the English Football League (EFL) to join the Swans.
However, it proved to be an unsuccessful spell as he made just one appearance, which was in the EFL Cup, before he was recalled last week.
The 21-year-old now joins Portuguese side Rio Ave until the end of the season.
Rio Ave are currently in 10th spot in Liga Portugal.
Abbey started the 2023/24 season with Reading and broke into the first-team with some spectacular performances.
Having played a total of 31 games for the Royals, which included captaining the side, Abbey was sold to Olympiacos in January as the club looked to raise funds to fix their financial issues.
Many fans had been keen on the idea of bringing Abbey back to Berkshire on a potential loan move, however the club are facing difficulties in securing any new players this month due to financial restrictions.
Several Reading first-team players have been linked with exits during the transfer window with the club in need of raising cash.
