WOKINGHAM audiences can enjoy a free performance of a classic Shakespeare tale next month.
Organised by Wokingham Town Council, the bard’s romantic tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, will be performed in one of the town’s parks.
The open air production, presented by Wokingham based Bart Lee Theatre, lasts around 80 minutes.
Accessible to all, and suitable for family audiences, the company says people can expect the core of the classic story to be presented in an engaging manner.
Bart Lee, who has adapted the play, also directs this classical piece.
Cllr Alexandra Domingue Vice Chair of Arts and Culture, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Bart Lee Theatre to Wokingham for their interpretation of Romeo and Juliet, by the quintessentially British Shakespeare.
“With their understanding of SEND and focus on making the Bard accessible to people of all ages, we are confident that Wokingham residents will enjoy the free performance in our welcoming Elms Field.”
People wishing to see the show are advised to bring picnic blankets or camping chairs.
Romeo and Juliet will be performed in Elms Field on Saturday, August 6.
Performances are at 11am and 2pm.
There is no need to book this free event, audiences can just turn up.
