A GOOD Samaritan who attempted to break up a fight in Wokingham’s town centre was hit over the head with a spanner.
The incident took place in Wellington Road on Saturday, December 1 at 1.30am – an hour after a man was found unconscious in Denmark Street.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incidents, but have not suggested that they are linked.
In the incident in Wellington Road, the victim, a man in his 20s, witnessed a fight taking place between three men. He got out of his car and attempted to break-up the fight.
However, the three men turned on him instead.
Thames Valley Police said he was hit on the head with a spanner and as he drove away from the scene the offenders also kicked his car.
Although he did not need hospital treatment, he was left with four lumps on the back of his head.
The same day, police arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of assault. He has since been released under investigation.
Investigating officer PC Rachel Pithers, based at Loddon Valley police station, said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have information about this incident to get in touch.
“I would especially like to hear from anyone with dash-cam footage in the area at the time of the assault.
“If you saw what happened or have details about this incident, please contact police.”
