HAS Bigfoot moved to Wokingham? A dog walker has captured evidence on his phone of a man-sized furry creature stalking Gorrick Woods.
Last week, David Dunham was exercising his pooch through the footpaths of the popular woodland spot close to Heathlands Road when something in the bushes caught his eye.
It was around 5.30pm in the evening, and the light was starting to fade when he was startled by the large, upright unknown beast in the woods.
And like the famous footage of Bigfoot, the creature was seen walking away.
Mr Dunham admitted the incident was unsettling, and is now appealing for any other sightings to come forward.
“I was just walking the dog and I’m sure I saw it in the woods somewhere,” he said.
“It’s about six-foot-tall, brown and furry. It looked like a lion but I don’t know … scary.”
There is plenty of space for any Bigfoot creatures to hide – the area is part of Bramshill Forest where there are trees, dens, footpaths, streams and farms.
More formally known as a Sasquatch, Bigfoot sightings have been made for centuries, and there are dedicated societies set up to solve the mystery of the creature.
Large and hairy, it is said to inhabit forests in North America – this is the first time one has been spotted in Wokingham.
However, there have been numerous sightings of big cats, notably in 2003, when a large fawn-coloured cat was spotted near Ravenswood Village, just down the road from Gorrick Woods, while in 1999, a Woosehill woman spotted a large cat in Coombes Wood.
“It had a long beige body and a very long tail which had a distinctive curve and bulbous tip. When it saw my dogs it fled but I know what I saw.”
Is it possible that in the 20 years since the last sighting, the big cat has grown even bigger?
