Binfield manager Roger Herridge expects his side to challenge for the title after their perfect start to the season.
The Moles currently sitting at the top of the Hellenic League Premier Division as the only side in the division with a 100% winning start having won their opening four league fixtures.
“They certainly don’t give out trophies in August and you can’t win the league this early but it’s important to get a good start,” said Binfield manager Roger Herridge.
“As for our expectations this year, I think we should challenge for the title, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t but we certainly won’t get ahead of ourselves.
“There’s a lot of good teams in this league, and we’re yet to play some of the teams that I think will be up there.
“There’s several teams who will have expectations of winning the league, and we’re possibly one of them.
“We’ve got some very tough games ahead, we just need to keep our feet on the ground and keep doing what we’ve been doing.”
A much rotated Binfield side also continued their momentum in the Hellenic Challenge Cup as they thrashed Chalfont Wasps 9-0 on Friday evening.
“We’re not going to get too carried away with the cup result.
“You can only beat what is put in front of you. They play two levels below us and we rested a lot of players on the night ahead of our game against Burnham in midweek.
“The players that came in did really well. When you score within 15 seconds it probably tells you that you’re going to go on to have a good night.
The changed Binfield side saw Sean Moore return from injury to complete a successful comeback as he bagged four goals on a productive evening.
“It gave us a good look at some players who haven’t played many minutes which was a good benefit.
“Sean Moore has been out injured so it was great to see him come back and play 90 minutes. He scored four and probably could have had double. It was a great confidence booster for the players that came into the side.
“It’s important for us to stay in the cup competitions as it gives more opportunities to play players who aren’t starting as regularly as they would like and gives us a chance to rest players who play in the league.
A fourth consecutive league victory on Tuesday evening saw the Moles come away with three points in a hard-fought 2-0 away victory at Burnham as they are still yet to concede a league goal this season.
The Moles scored two second-half goals as McClurg opened the scoring before Joel Balentin doubled the lead to maintain Binfield’s status at the top of the table.
“To have not conceded a goal in the league yet is a huge positive. Last year in terms of scoring goals we were where we wanted to be but we conceded too many and it’s an area that we needed to improve.
“It’s certainly helped signing Karl Davies, he has added quality at the back and we’ve looked a lot more solid across the back four which has been very pleasing to see.”
Binfield face Lymington Town in the FA Cup Preliminary round on Saturday before their league campaign continues with a home fixture against Reading City on Bank Holiday Monday.
