Hurst Morris People, after a busy summer at shows, fetes and a seaside folk festival, are inviting everyone to have a go at their hobby.
Their Cotswold morris taster sessions are on Thursdays September 21 and 28 at Hurst Village Hall RG10 0DR.
They say it’s the chance to learn traditional English dance, keep fit and make new friends. All genders, generations and backgrounds are welcome.
No dance experience is necessary. If it looks like you could reach a suitable standard you could become ‘apprentices’ and when proficient, full members.
Folk musicians are welcome to bring their instruments to play at the tasters. Most tunes are in the key of G or D.
Hurst Morris practise from October to April and then perform at pubs and events over a wide area. They want to produce good performances – and enjoy themselves doing so.
They danced on the bank holiday weekend at the National Transport Trust vintage transport festival near Henley, where they were watched by other stars there, a herd of camels.
Recently they were at Rotherfield Greys fete at beautiful Greys Court near Henley. Last weekend (Sept 8-10) they were dancing by the sea at Swanage Folk Festival.
