Hurst Morris People’s first 30th birthday celebration event was a barn dance packed with enthusiastic and lively dancers.
A raffle at the Hurst Village Hall dance raised £176 for Wokingham-based charity Just Around the Corner (JAC), which helps young people referred to them by Wokingham and Bracknell schools, social services, parents and also by self- referral.
During a break in the dancing, JAC founders Sam and Yvonne Milligan told the 85 guests about their work.
JAC has been chosen by HuMP as its charity of the year.
The morris dancers’ Squire (leader) Karen Ricketts said: “The evening was really good fun, thanks to all our guests, our band Chris, Patsy and Friends and our caller Howard Ballard.
“It was all a great start to our 30th birthday year. We’d like to invite everyone to our May celebration being held just a few days early, on Sunday April 28, from noon at the village hall.
“There will be maypole dancing with easy dances for everyone to join in with and displays of morris dancing. Light refreshments will be on sale. Everyone is invited to bring a picnic, their family and friends.”
