Residents objecting to 200 new homes on a green field are invited to a session today to hear about the inquiry into the appeal for planning permission.
The drop-in session is from 4-7pm on Friday, January 20, at St Nicholas Primary school hall in School Road, Hurst. The proposed houses are for land between Lodge Road (the B3030) and Tape Lane, Hurst.
Wokingham Borough Council refused permission for the homes.
But Mactaggart and Mickel Homes have appealed against that decision, seeking permission. A planning inspector will hear evidence for and against the scheme at an eight day inquiry.
The appeal is from January 31 at 10am at the borough council’s meeting chamber at Shute End, Wokingham.
Hurst Parish Council chair Wayne Smith said: “We would urge villagers to come along to the drop-in session on January 20 so they can understand how the inquiry process works.”
Residents wishing to speak at the appeal can find out about that at the drop-in session. “Usually appeal inspectors will listen to all residents who wish to speak on the first day. Although arrangements can usually be made to speak on another day,” added Cllr Smith.
The drop-in session will also cover travel and parking. There will the chance to ask questions and a Frequently Asked Questions sheet.
The parish council has been granted Rule 6 status, giving the council equal status as the applicant and the borough council officers. Everything will be shared with the parish council which has objected to the scheme.
