Woodley residents who visit Woodford Park this spring will be in for a wonderful display of purple crocus.

The Rotary Club of Loddon Vale have once again supplied the crocus bulbs and the Friends of Woodford Park arranged for members of the community to help with the planting.
The Rotarians and Friends were particularly delighted that the 1st Woodley Cubs and Beavers could join them on Saturday.
The volunteers chose a perfect Saturday morning, the ground was ideal after all the recent rain but the sun was shining.
Everyone who attended had a very enjoyable morning and almost 4,000 crocus bulbs were planted.
The colour purple is chosen because the crocuses are donated by the Rotary Club as part of their international ‘Puple4polio’ awareness campaign.

This aims to ‘End polio now’ and the significance of the purple is that when village children are given their polio injection they have a finger stained purple to show that they have been immunised.
Woodford Park, which is found opposite the Woodley shopping centre, is the only park in the borough to hold the Green Flag Award and welcomes visitors of all ages throughout the year.
