Kelly Chambers has expressed her pride in convincing Remi Allen to join Reading Women.
Allen, 25, has spent a number of years in the top flight of the Women’s Super League with Lincoln Ladies and Birmingham City Ladies and was a regular in the Blues side during the first half of this season.
But Chambers managed to persuade Allen, who played in the Champions League with Birmingham, to make the deadline day switch to the Royals to boost her midfield ranks.
“Remi brings bags of experience of playing at this level,” explained the manager.
“She is a quality individual, quality midfielder and we miss someone like that right now.
“I’m proud that the club, myself and the staff could bring her in because I think she can

bring a lot of things to the club.”
She continued: “On the back side of that we can definitely support her.
“She is still a young player and we think we can still push her and progress her as an individual as well.”

Chambers welcomed back Lois Roche and Jade Boho Sayo from injury during Saturday’s Continental Cup defeat to Arsenal but was without Kylie Davies, who was wearing a protective boot on the sidelines, while Becky Jane was forced off at half time.
Allen was named among the substitutes at The Hive but Chambers hopes she will be in better shape to make her Royals debut this weekend away to Liverpool.
“It’s been frustrating,” admitted Chambers.
“Becky (Jane) was actually concussed.
“She got concussion in the first half, managed to play on until half time but the doctors ruled her out for the second half.
“Kylie (Davies) is just carrying something at the minute and hopefully she’ll be back next week fit and the same with Remi (Allen).
“Remi is coming in on the back end of not training with her club for five weeks so it’s a case of managing her and hopefully we can have her for Saturday as well.”
